What can we do for breast health? 1) Avoid Underwire Bras – Inhibiting lymphatic drainage, bras can trap toxins in the breast tissue, which may lead to cancer. 2) NEVER carry a cell phone in your bra. Is there a link between cell phone placement and breast cancer? Cellphones are two-way microwave radios and should not be kept directly on the body. The soft fatty tissue of the breast readily absorbs this radiation. Case Reports are accumulating of young women with no family history developing breast cancer. The tumors were unusually located directly underneath the skin where they placed their cell phones in their bra. Doctors voice this precautionary advice: Women should not store their cell phones in their bra. 3) Keep active with walking, gentle yoga or meditation. Try some gentle movement once a week. Buddy up and grab a friend to join you. 4) Incorporate more unrefined nut and seed foods like hemp, buckwheat, quinoa, walnuts, almonds, pecans, pumpkin and sunflower seeds into your lifestyle. Add fruits with seeds like blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, kiwi, tomatoes and cucumbers. Even these herbal seeds can be used to spice up your food – cumin, coriander, caraway, anise, and dill seeds. 5) Hold the gluten! Replace all refined carbohydrates including white rice and white/unbleached flour products such as pasta, bread, cookies, crackers, pretzels, bagels, donuts, and cakes – with gluten free options. 6) Eat less vegetable oil. What is vegetable oil anyway? The FDA’s definition of vegetable oil includes canola and corn. Gee, last time I checked corn is a grain and not a vegetable. “Diets high in corn oil leave animals especially vulnerable to chemically induced cancers” say researchers.
